Since falling into payroll over 28 years ago
Claire’s payroll career has spanned a variety of industries, both
in the public and private sectors working on large and small
payrolls. Always a passionate believer in the value of high
quality training, Claire then made a deliberate decision to move
into this particular area and undertook the role of consultant and
training manager for an award winning payroll software house.
Upon successfully completing the IPP Diploma,
she went on to become one of the first and elitist group who
graduated with the Masters degree in Payroll Management. |

In January 2003 Claire was invited
to join the IPP in a position which lead to her most recent role with
them, that of ‘Head of Qualifications’. The role brought together not
only her considerable talents and expertise in the Payroll and
Training arenas, but also encompassed many other responsibilities.
During her time with the institute she successfully wrote a number of
training courses, and delivered across their entire portfolio. She has
become an accredited lecturer at the University of Derby and is a
regular guest speaker at Payroll events and conferences throughout the
country.
Claire’s passion for her subject and
the people who work within this industry has made her a much listened
to speaker and a true ‘ambassador’ for her chosen profession. She has
long been recognised as a leading figure in raising the profile of
Payroll and takes every opportunity to share her enthusiasm with
people new to the industry.

Has worked within the Payroll industry
since leaving school over 20 years ago. She has also held
senior posts within both Finance and HR sectors, always with a
payroll slant, and therefore gaining an added insight into other
key areas and valuable interaction with other stakeholder
departments.
Annette has worked for a number of specialist
industries, within both the public and private sectors, including
that of the Exchequer Manager for a Police force which included
dealing with local government and police pensions, expenses and
finance services. |

In addition to this she has
also held some key roles for a number of software houses, including
roles focusing on implementation, training, support desk delivery and
management as well as customer services. Having successfully
undertaken the IPP Diploma in Payroll Management she has since gone on
to tutor and train and write material for the Institute on numerous
courses and qualifications, receiving the prestigious and much coveted
‘Tutor of the Year’ award in 2006.
Annette is a true believer in
learning through fun – but also understands from dealing with small
and large payrolls, within both public and private sector that quality
payroll training is vital, and strives to deliver this at every
opportunity.

Trevor Lakin FIPP - Specialist

For well over 30 years Trevor has
been involved with the Payroll profession. Initially in the Local
Government sector and then the private sector, Designing and
delivering payroll courses and benchmark qualifications for the
payroll industry, in 1985 Trevor launched what is now known as the
Institute of Payroll Professionals of which he is an Honorary Fellow.
Trevor has many years managerial
experience working for an international software company and has
worked closely with many Government departments that allowed the
design of leading edge training programs. He is a popular and regular
conference speaker both in the UK and overseas.
Still keen to be involved in a
profession he is passionate about he keeps up to date by running a
payroll for a local company and continues to be a guest speaker on a
variety of subjects both technical and soft skills related.

training professional with over 20 years experience specialising in
the area of Irish Payroll and Legislation, Lesley has amassed expert
diverse and practical knowledge of the Irish Payroll Industry and has
